Name Derivation: Named after Thomas Ryan 1876-1921, Premier of Queensland 1915-19.
Area and Location Description: Ryan covers an area of approximately 415 sq km mainly on the south-western side of the City of Brisbane. The greater part of the division is located north of the Brisbane River with a small part extending south of the river on the western side of the Centenary Hwy. The main suburbs and localities include Bellbowrie, Brookfield, Karana Downs, Lake Manchester, the western 'Centenary' suburbs, Chapel Hill, Indooroopilly, Kenmore, St Lucia, Taringa, Toowong, Auchenflower, Bardon (part) and The Gap.
Products/Industries of the Area: The area is mainly residential and acreage suburbs. The University of Queensland with some 26 000 students is located on the Brisbane River at St Lucia, while all of Brisbane's television transmitters are on Mount Coot-tha which dominates the landscape of the division. The suburb of Sumner is partially devoted to light industry. By way of contrast, some farming still occurs in the outlying suburbs and the division also includes a large portion of Brisbane Forest Park.

The main suburbs include Elizabeth, Salisbury, Craigmore and Munno Para. The towns of Virginia, Gawler, Port Wakefield, Balaklava, Clare, Kapunda, Riverton, Mallala, Freeling and Tarlee are also included in this division.
Products/Industries of the Area: The main industries hosted by the northern suburbs of Adelaide include clothing, defence, the Edinburgh RAAF Base, automotive and automotive component manufacturing. General Motors Holden are the major employer of the area and produce Holden cars for Australia and many overseas markets. The rural and agricultural industries include cereal crops, sheep, cattle, market gardens and viticulture (including the renowned Clare Valley wine region). Area and Location Description: Wannon covers an area of approximately 33 854 sq km from the southern coastline of Victoria, to the northern boundaries of Glenelg Shire, Southern Grampians Shire and Pyrenees Shire and takes in the southern part of the Northern Grampians Shire. From the South Australian border the division extends to the eastern boundaries of Pyrenees Shire and Corangamite Shire at which point it also includes a small section of the Colac-Otway Shire. The region is generally known as the 'Western District'. The main towns and areas of interest include Ararat, Avoca, Camperdown, Great Western, Halls Gap, Hamilton, Koroit, Port Campbell, Port Fairy, Portland, Stawell, Terang and Warrnambool.
